If you could somehow mount a panel on the underside of the rack that leaves the rack itself free for luggage carrying duties.

Not my cup of tea on a modern van but… it’s not my van.

One thought about putting it on the front though - you would notice an increase in wind noise from inside the cab. So if you do stick with it maybe rear is better placement.

Couldn't hear it at all on my T5 in the same position but then the engine did sound a bit like a tractor. 2.5.
