Replacing fixed drivers side window

I have been let down with a firm in Stoke on Trent who were going to replace my drivers side fixed window and fit a Camperglass safari window which I have bought. Has anyone replaced a fixed window and was it a reasonably easy job, for what I can see I need to mask the paint work around the window and bodywork and sheet up inside.
I think the easiest would be to hit the window with a centre punch or similar to shatter the glass clear up the bits of glass, remove old sealant and clean all around the outside edge then seal the new one in.

Has any one replaced a fixed window.

Hi John, there is a way of removing them with a bike break cable that you pull back and forth around the seal. It's definitely a 2 man job though. Heat gun to make the bonding more cuttable and ideally you'd' want to get the window strip that goes on the metal work off first if possible...

Probably a quicker job with a hammer though. I think you can buy a sheets of adhesive backed plastic to cover the window before you break it or a few rolls of wide tape perhaps. Would make for a lot less mess.

I have no idea how I know all this but I work nights and have watched pretty much every youtube vid about vans...

Thanks for that @Badjamin I’ve seen on eBay cheese wire kits to remove the window but I can’t start the job yet as I recently broke my leg and not walking on it yet without a boot and pair of sticks.

My local auto window specialist uses multi-strand polyethylene twine, approx 3mm. Cheap and widely available.
This sort of stuff, plus it won’t damage the paint, use some soapy water as a lubricant.
