Replaced power steering pump...

I'm keeping an eye out for a used rack. Does it matter which engine code it comes from? I didn't want to just assume anything from another 1.9 were all the same. Thanks
No idea, try VW parts dept, no reason why they shouldn’t tell you.

The majority or T5 and T5.1 are the same. Some T6 also. You can tell by looking at them if they are the same. The most obvious is an extra plug but that seems to be on caravelles.

I disagree, as mentioned the OP is not a qualified mechanic and there isn’t a visible record of the maintenance / repair process. IMO a time consuming distaction with little chance of a positive outcome.
I have exchanged many parts at Euro car parts, GSF and never been asked to show my collage certificates which is good as I am not a mechanic. Providing the warranty T&Cs do not state that the part should be fitted by a trained person then the OP has nothing to loose. Proving the OP explains that every other component in the system has been swapped out, more than once and the fluid replaced each time and the issue still remains therefore the only component not being swapped is the rack then the supplier should honour the warranty. If it was purchased as a reconditioned unit then they should have the means of testing it too.
