Repairing screw holes

I've removed an old partition from my van and been left with a number of screw holes like these, before I do any carpet lining I need to do something about them but not really sure what. I don't want to see them and I don't want any water ingress or rust, any suggestions?

Those holes are in the inner van skin, so shouldn't get external water leaks.

Tap flat with hammer

Seal holes with a clear nail varnish.

Carpet over the top.

I think they are double skinned, but with no void.... So direct into the outside.

But there is a wheel arch liner.

Use a tooth pick and see if you can poke through..

In either case, treat as above, but then add a blob of Tiger-seal / sikaflex pushed into the hole.

Then cover with carpet....

Just reviving this because I have some red oxide primer that I was about to use on the screw holes in the floor but I notice it says on the tin that it’s not for galvanised metals so I assume I can’t use it?

You can use it on galvanised but you need to etch the surface first. Probably easier just to use something else.

Oh I see, so it’s about adhering. I thought maybe the metal would react and bubble away to nothing 😂

If you want to paint then try Hammerite Special Metals Primer.
I’d just apply an acrylic polymer sealant if it’s a covered area.

Great minds … I’ve just been out to Halfords!

As you are carpeting over the top, please don’t feel constrained on the choice of nail varnish colour! You can even have glitter!
