Removing swivel functionality from bench seat ?

Hi all

We have a bench seat with swivel, which never gets swiveled around....How easy is it to remove the swivel mechanism, and i am right that this would a)lower the seat a little and b)leave room for a subwoofer (at some point) ?

Very easy if you can swing a spanner! Usually only a handful of bolts holding the base to the swivel mechanism and swivel into the floor. It'll lower the seat by however thick your swivel plate is - probably an inch or two and yes, would make it easier for installing a sub box.
