Hey all,

hope you guys are enjoying your weekend.

I’m changing over my front VW badge to a Matt black version and I’ve got to look at removing the lower chrome trim that is on the grill to paint it.

does anyone know if it clips on the grill, or is it just double sided tape, as I’d like not to break it when I remove it

cheers

Clips, along top and bottom edge. I used a trim removal tool and just started at one end and worked my way along.

It clips. There are loads of clips. I have an old grill in the garage and even off the van I didn't manage to remove the chrome trim for fear of breaking the clips. Can you not just ut some 3M on whilst its in situ?

Ill use the trim removal tool and give it a shot, and hopefully i won't break it.

If i do break some of the clips, i can always remove them and use the VHB tape i have in the workshop.

I'd prefer to paint it than try and wrap it

Well, i had no luck removing the trim, it would be easier if the grill was off the van, so ill just wrap it now.

That trim piece is well secured

I found it easier by undoing the fixings at top of main grill under bonnet.
Gives you some access behind without taking off bumper.
