Remove Dometic Awning

I wish to remove my Dometic Wind-out awning and replace it with a rail for a tent awning.

How easy is this?

I would probably sell the awning once removed?

Just concerned I’ll be left with a T6 full of holes

The original holes in the transporter (4 in swb & 5 in lwb) are above the pillars. The vans come with blanks which have a rubber washer on to prevent water getting into the van. There is a recessed threaded nut inside the van which is secured to the inner skin I think.
Once you remove the dometic awning you will be left with the single holes. Buy replacement blanks from Just Kampers.
Top Tip! Don't over tighten them! They are not very strong and getting the thread out is a pita. Also put a small smear of silicon grease on the rubber prior to putting in the van, to prevent water ingress.

I am thinking of doing the same as my Dometic awning recently self destructed itself, when one of the arms became loose!

I have wound it back in and it is limping along but long term I think an awning track and canvas awning is the way to go.
