Rear Wheel Rubbing with 275/40/R20’s

Hi everyone. Been an avid reader of this forum and today decided to join as need some helpful advice. Have 275/40/R20s on my T6.1 and have had no issues . No rubbing on front at full lock either. BUT I noticed when cleaning wheels that the tolerance on the rear wheels versus the plastic wheel arch is very tight. It’s because there is a bit that protrudes out reducing gap. My rear wheels don’t rub but am I over worrying ? Should I reduce down to 275/35 and gain 14mm ?? Many thanks for you help. Matt.

Doesn't look like anything to worry about.

When you need tyres, go for a 265/40/20 or a 245/45/20

There are other sizes for 20s but depends on the load rating of your van.

Thanks for responses doncarlyon and JumpShip. I couldn’t understand why the plastic wheel arch had a piece that protrudes out reducing gap. But thank you for your reassurance and help.

And yes those wheels JumpShip look very cool.

Thanks Matt 😊 .

Is that edge that sticks out not behind the wheel ? 🤔
I must take another look at mine to see if I have the same.

The bit of the plastic wheel arch that sticks out is in line with the tyre and not behind it. Not helped as I have 275’s tyres. I looked at replacing wheel arch but the moulding of the plastic has this protruding bit. I guess it’s the same on all T6’s ??? But would be good to understand if you have same thing on your rear wheels.

Yep same on ours apparently.

I can still get my pinkies in between the arch and the tyre so never gonna catch .
Same size tyres as yours .
