Rear side panel shelves help

Hi everyone,

Has anyone added thin shelves cut into the ply panels that cover the rear side window panels, kind of like the image below?



I am curious to see how it looks any any measurements anyone has? It would only be to store a book and charge mobile phones etc. and maybe have some hidden strip lighting in it? Is there enough depth to mount a 3 pin plug?

I have tried googling it and searching this site but havent really found any info. Any help/tips/pics/measurements would be amazing.
