Hi all,

I need help with wiring of LEDs in the back of the van. I have LWB and would like to put 8 leds and a 3 way switch in the B pillar and additional switch in the dash.
Switch functions:
  1. to switch on the LEDs and leave it on so it does not time out
  2. door switching option - when you open the door
  3. all leds off regardless if the door is open or closed.
Currently I have normal non led lights with 3 wire plug. I would also need to wire in step light.

Standard Highline panel van converted to kombi, no leisure battery.

Recommendations for LED units are welcome, would like it them bright.

Thank you.

run off a leisure battery or just the starter battery?

to work alongside/addition to the existing rear lights? . . . or to replace them?

Existing lights are coming out and I do not have leisure battery.

If using the existing wires in the van lights. I think “always on” has a time out anyway so they don’t stay on when the van is locked.
If using as a camper etc and you may want lights on for hours in there and don’t have leisure battery then you would have to careful.

BCM rear light TIMER :

You can change the time by changing module 09 chanal 038. standard value is: 21 (10.5 minutes) en you can change it to 254 (127 minutes). it's multiplying whit 30 sec.

@mmi Excellent info. Thanks. Seems to match with my observations in thread Led Rear Interior Lights - How I Done It.
- channel 38 in my van has value of 121 - and indeed I had observed the lights (obviously the new setting came with factory LEDs in cargo space) stay on for 60 mins.

hi every one im about to wire up 6 led lights in my van as slowly im getting around to converting it .iv put the roof lining in today with the 6 led lights as it started getting bit dark I decided to temporary wire it direct to my leisure battery or will be that's next job .but looking for some advice please I want to run the wireing into the old wireing 3 x wires but I also want them wired to a separate on and off switch that will work off the leisure battery another slight problem is the lights I bought are touch ones that I did not realise till weeks after I bought them im not to fuss on them touch ones working however just want them to work on opening the doors and a switch please its a t6 ad two rear lights in the rear was just a panel van any help/advice would be grateful il be back on again soon to sort leisure battery charging system lol thanks again

You need to get new lights. Touch lights won’t work

hi and thank you I cant seem to win .I bought some lights that wont work and cant send them back.iv bought a durite split charger relay and been told the same no good .and iv bought a key cut out kill switch and im to scared to ask about that one lol .as your on and I see you on here a lot can you throw some light on the warranty the van is about two years old in march iv noticed it was serviced at vw on 9/11/18 at 19.857 miles, then it was serviced again on 25/10/19 .miles was 45.857.by a garage called on site commercial vehicle services for oil change £91 pounds .does this still stand for the warranty or is the garage not a vw one does it void the remainder of the 3 year warranty I don't know how it works as always ad older motors .thanks again steve

Thinking about it. It’s only the master light, the one with the switch in that’s no good. You could still use the other ‘slave’ units.
