Quality of Khyam Awnings - Airtek Kamper XC Inflatable

Hi,

Previously we've taken our Camper and normal tent - as opposed to a drive away awning - never been an issue - however nearly all places now seem to say no to that set up - some even saying it contravenes H&S rules, and if you wanted such a set up you'd be charged for two pitches...

So looking for a drive away awning. We had the Vango Galli - but for a family of four it we found it a little small once things like table, cooker etc were in situ.

Most other awnings seem similar size - to us a lot have wasted space at the front whereby you can't zip them at the front so if a horrible day you end up back in the small main area.

I've come across the Khyam Airtek Camper XC Drive Away awning - looks exactly like what we're after - in effect a large tent that you can utilise all the space as zippable at the front.

Not cheap though, plus can't view it anywhere. Just wondered if anyone had one - or what people's views of Khyam were re quality - looking at other threads they seem to be favoured...

Thanks

Not seen one...but have to say looks very nice...Vango have missed a trick they have some nice looking family tents but don’t have an
awning connection ... we have the Rhône ( same as galli ) but even just two it’s tight..must stop taking the kitchen sink

ps ...little tip..we found that the awning sides can rub the van in windy conditions..so I’ve invested in magnetic tiles to cut up and position where the sides meet the van ( clean area before use ...don’t want to scratch your pride and joy)

Exactly that - we need a large tent but the Vango one's are just too small to me for a family. When it's a wet day and you've got stuff out drying you need that extra space.

All awnings seem to be much the same - this is the only one of its type - bar an Olpro - but you have to buy an extension, door - too much faff!

Just edit...top tip

We have something similar by kayam - it’s massive! Honestly, we could lift the front panel, park the van in it and zip it up again! Pic is when we used it as a free-standing tent in the garden last summer for our lockdown camping trip!

This is the same one I think, looks exactly the same as one on their website - take it you're happy with it?

I actually thought it was Outdoor Revolution when I was posting, then had to edit the post when I looked at the post. Just checked with SWMBO who tells me that we paid less than £700 for it. I suspect vendors are making the most of the staycation upswing with their pricing. Very, very impressed with it, 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs and still acres of room inside. Blackout blinds to the “bedrooms” and front flap goes up on poles to form an awning

Apologies, just followed the link posted - it is the same kit. Yep, it is very good. Bloomin heavy when packed up though!!!

Can only comment on the good quality of our Khyam Motordome Tailgate XL. Well made, design clearly thought through and easy to use. Would recommend the Brand on that basis. Good luck in your hunt...

I bought an Airtek Kamper Pro2 but it has never been out of the box yet! I can vouch for the fact that it is really really heavy! I was swayed by the Khyam tents I have seen on camp sites which all looked great quality. I also like the fact that mine can be opened up into a kind of gazebo or used as a sleeping tent.

Late to post on this, but we' picked one up last year as un upgrade to our Motordome sleeper, which was large. Have used it twice this year and got to say it's brilliant. Massive, packed up weighs a bit, but can still shift it about with a bit of back work. Goes up easily and comes down easily. Only a need for the 12 pegs with the precision pitching. Only issues we've had is packing it away, no instructions and can't find anything online so at the moment it's a case on buddling it in the bag any way it goes in :)
