Quality mud flaps?

For front flaps I originally had some OEM copies. But they would occasionally catch on even low kerbs, and the near side one eventually broke so I replaced them with genuine OEM ones. The rubber was noticeably more flexible so hopefully they have more give in them and will not fail. If I remember correctly, they use existing holes, but I did use a riv-nut in the underneath hole instead of the rubber grommet that came with them.

For the rear, I have fitted moulded ones, but I can’t remember whether I had to drill a hole in the wheel arch liner for them.

Welcome to the T6 Forum barmikar

I have original fit mud flaps from new and find then a pain especially the rear which keep catching off road and occasionally half pull out. They seem to be held in by thin screws. I do not find that they do very much in the way of preventing mud from going up the side of the vehicle or at the rear very much . For off road use they are too stiff. If I ever come across some rubber sheeting similar to what Rally Cars may have used then I might be tempted to cut the originals down and marry some rubber sheet to them. It would be great if something could attach to the rear bumper area so that something could stretch across the entire width of the vehicle like a skirt. That would perhaps keep the rear end and screen clear for a few seconds longer!:)

I have OEM front ones fitted now after hearing the horror stories regarding the short moulded ones I originally had fitted and the fact that they can rub the paint away on the underside of the front doors. Not to mention sending loads of detritus up behind the inner wheel arch plastic liners. I have the moulded ones still fitted to the rear though. No drilling was needed for fitment, as they use the inner arch clips and holes.
