Hi all,

I'm trying to find a non white or silver T6 swb for around 22k inc vat as a base van to convert. When I add my needs would like to haves the list of possibles gets shorter and shorter.

Needs
tailgate
unmodified
single sliding door
manual
less than 30k miles
102 BHP
aircon
factory painted bumper and rear parking sensors

would like to haves
140/150 BHP - not 180
rear wash wipe

it does not seem a picky list, but its hard in this price bracket, especially when you add the cost of conversion with quality components RIB, SCA roof etc

If I spend any more youre getting into the realms of hillside campers etc

I've found a really good fairly local conversion company who gets good reviews so happy on that side.

Autotrader and dealer sites are soo flakey with the info they put on them and having small children its hard to drive the hour plus to see if the van is what they say it is and in the condition I want it to be in.

Grrr hopefully Oxford van centre will come up trumps later.

(no really point to this just venting a little.)

Sounds like you need a highline spec van. Much more room in a LWB when converting. Most 102bhp motors need mapping when converts due to the extra weight. 180bhp pulls well and has the mods done to the engine that the t5.1 suffered with. So don't rule it out, plus 140/ 180 plus all have a six speed transmission.

My converter found mine for me...granted its white, but I wasn't bothered about the colour. Have a look at Imperial Commercials, they had several in when I was looking for mine. Mines a 102 and it goes ok with my conversion...its never going to beat anyone at the lights, but I don't drive like that these days...its only 5 speed though.

I wanted a tailgate, but ended up with barn doors, which I'm happier with as I don't need as much room to open them...and I'm vertically challenged too, so think I'd have struggled with a tailgate.

Happy hunting.

The vans outside Stanlake are modified.
It looks like Marshalls in Abingdon and Reading have a few in various colours with low mileage. I'd advise going and having a look yourself.
I got mine from Marshalls in Abingdon, on the web it was listed as a T32 kombi, when I got there it turned out to be a T30 kombi - so you can't be sure that the listed spec is correct.
I also got £500 off the ex-vat price, so there is some movement on price if you ask nicely :)

Have you tried the VW website. You can search country wide and narrow down your search spec wise.

There is a new trade member on here - Van Adz - who lists virtually all VW T's for sale on their website. They have a very comprehensive search facility too so you may be able use that to your benefit.

I got a highline 102 with tailgate, 9 months old and 5k on the clock for less than 22k (just). It is silver tho! They had an identical spec black one and a red one. Went with silver. Sure you'll find something around that price.

I second the VW used van website. Found mine on there with a few to choose from and I had a similar list, in fact there were more SWB vans than the LWB that I wanted this time round.

At 22k, you'll struggle to get a colour van with wiper... I went silver, it's only got 6k on the clock and I don't really care about the colour - I think it looks great, and it certainly drives great...

picking up an Induim Grey T6 with tailgate, 102BHP manual in a few hours, only 7k miles on the clock. v excited.

Getting it from Marshals Didcot/Abingdon there was a little wiggle room on price.
