Ply Floor Supplier Recommendations - Midlands

Hi All,

I need to get a 12mm ply floor for my SWB T6.1 conversion, does anyone have any recommendations that deliver or are in the Midlands (Leicestershire / Warwickshire area). I know there are a bunch online, but varying prices and probably quality, so I prefer to go on recommendations. I don't really have the time to make one myself unfortunately.

Thanks in advance.

I wanted to follow up on this, I went with Customshop designs in the end, ordering and delivery were all painless. The quality looks good and there are no visible imperfections on the ply. I tried to dry fit the ply, but it was slightly too big, probably down to the carpet lining. I can see trimming this to be a bit of trial and hopefully not too much error. I'm sure this would have been easier if the join in the board was front to back rather than side to side. Will follow up with pictures.

There’s a firm advertising on eBay who supply a 1 piece floor rather than having it in sections. Should be stiffer once it is installed. I haven’t bought one yet but they say it is birch ply so stiffer than some other types of ply too. They’re Birmingham area.

I think I might have looked at that seller. I would add a couple of observations:
  • Handling - A one piece board is a 2 person job, I had to take the half pieces in and out several times until I was happy with the fit
  • Warping and cupping - I kept the ply flat between delivery and installation, but it had warped slightly, gluing it and weighting it down helped a bit
  • Joining it - I didn't, but wish I had even it it was some dowel and strong wood glue. Because of the warping, I didn't want it to show up though my flooring and ended up sanding the boards to meet and using super glue and sawdust to fill the gap and get a better bond

Floor glued down, and beginning to lay my Amtico LVT flooring, you can see the join in the ply where I had to sand it.

I did infill the packers with Dodo Mat DEADN DUO, but I was rushing about and didn't take any photos

Very nice. I did the same regarding packers, Deadn Duo and plywood above but opted for precut vinyl instead of LVT and find it's working well. Good job!

What glue have you used for your amtico tiles? Ours are starting to buckle and lift after a couple of years in use.

I found a chap locally who was selling the genuine Amtico HT (High Temperature) Glue. It is supposed to be the stuff to use in conservatories etc. Only time will tell if it's good or not  The other half likes how it looks. Probably cost me £70 or there abouts all in.

I got the tiles free as leftovers from a family house hallway refurb but I only used spray HT glue that we had on the carpeting so I will likely try again with proper Amtico glue.

A bit further than your ask, but had a great experience with T-spoke who supply a 1 piece floor. Based by Bristol airport, so not a million miles away

I'm probably going to have a half bucket or more left over, if you are local enough (Leicestershire / Warwickshire border) we could come to some agreeable arrangement if you were interested?

Very decent of you. DM me when you're done and we can sort out a meet. I'm on the A14 and up the M6 fairly often
