This is what VW do for the second recall for the Bowden freezing in the doors. There is aluminium tape applied, seemingly tape around the plastic housing for the cable and then the cable itself has been cable tied to the metal door frame to hold it in a vertical position.

I have gone further by packing it with 19mm closed cell foam, silicone spray on the exposed cable and sound deadening where i can.PXL_20251127_110122314.webpPXL_20251127_111840843.webp

I have a subtle yet annoying rattle in my door since VW did this recall on my van. I assume a panel clip is broken so I’ve got some replacements but haven’t had time to get the door card off yet.

Is that the official VW remedy or the local dealers cheap as possible solution?
Mind boggling that a company with a HQ in Germany could not design for a sub-zero climate

Thats the official remedy! I found online posts about it, one was a VW tech and that was their solution - to cable tie it into a higher position and apply tape in certain places...

I don’t think recalls expire. I bought my van used this Feb, it’s a 21 plate, and they did the recall in March.
