Hi,
Looking to have a tracker installed - narrowed it down to a Phantom iTrack S7 / motion intelligence iTrack S7 which I believe to be the same thing.
Hoping to get some real world feedback on the product, if there are any better alternatives and to confirm how things work.
The van is destined to be a simple camper fit out / MTB van / not obvious camper. So hopefully will fly a bit under the radar of people looking to steal a fully specified / built up camper.
I have a disklok, CCTV covering the path and pedal lock.
Sorry for all the questions - thanks in advance.
1. S5 vs S7
I have decided on the S7 as I believe the main difference is the use of fobs on the S5 to identify me. As the transporter does not use keyless entry, not sure the fob adds anything. I will keep the keys locked away / hidden in the house. Am I missing anything here? You can guarantee if we had fobs they would end up just being attached to the keys anyway!
So assuming S7...
(2) Alerts
I have spoken to them and they say it will alert me for tow away event and battery disconnect. I get the tow away event, but why would someone disconnect my battery if they were trying to steal the van. I assume the trackers have a backup battery anyway? Is this how it works?
(3) Who gets alerted
In the event of an alert, they proactively call me - correct? And they then contact the police?
(4) How does it know it is me driving
I take it if the van is moving and it has a key in it, it knows it is me and not a tow away event. I don't want to have to (for example) set something in an app to say "it is me driving".
(5) Data
Does it need a mobile data connection to communicate with the control centre or does it work another way? I spend a fair amount of time in areas with zero mobile connection.
(6) Call centre
Are they any good / reactive?
