Hi everyone, I have a 2017 vw transporter 75 KW / 101 BHP.
Engine management code I have is P2185 engine coolant temp sensor 2. The fan runs continuously.
From the description I assume it’s mounted on the engine somewhere, for the life of me I can’t find the location!
I have replaced the coolant temperature sensor on the bottom of the radiator and another that is mounted on a hose coming out of the radiator.
I have attached a picture of the sensor I am trying to locate and this part has been confirmed with vw with my reg and it’s for my vehicle.
I have also read online it’s location may be near the thermostat housing, again where is the thermostat housing?
Any help will be much appreciated.

VCDS states:
P2185 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor on Radiator Outlet (G83)

Circuit high suggests a likely wiring issue. What does the sensor data read - probably +215 C?

Did you check the wiring to the bottom Temperature Sensor ? Apparently quite a common fault.
I haven’t had a deep inspection so to speak, because when I remove the plug to replace the sensor there wasn’t and visible corrosion or damage for me to inspect further, but I will take it off over the weekend and maybe check it properly.
Thank you .

Thanks for this, I will look at the wiring over the weekend, will update accordingly.
