Only on swivel seat in ocean?!

Hi all,

I’ve just bought a California Ocean 6.1 and noticed something a bit odd — the driver’s seat doesn’t have a swivel mechanism at all.

I was under the impression that swivel seats are standard on the Ocean, so I’m a bit confused how this can be. Is a non-swivel driver’s seat ever a valid factory configuration, or is it more likely that a previous owner removed it?

Also, has anyone come across this before?

If it’s missing, is it possible to buy and retrofit the original VW swivel base separately, or would that require changing the whole seat/base assembly?

Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated!

From factory, they come with swivels and, AFAIK, there is (was) no option for a non-swivel driver's seat.

I believe there is a rare option of a 'comfort' seat which comes with height adjustment instead of swivel.

Do you have height adjustment?

You might be right — it does appear to have height adjustment! I can't find any examples of this online, but I suppose retrofitting the swivel mechanism isn't a straightforward option then.

I believe it can be done which will add height. You might have more luck trying to swap with someone that wants height adjustment as they dont come up often.

Its a California specific issue so you will get more info here
