Northern France campsites

Fantastic! Did you book a cabin for the Plymouth > Roscoff crossing? We were really impressed and found the beds surprisingly comfortable.

Camping Pas-de-Calais ~ ᐃ CHATEAU DU GANDSPETTE ****

Stayed here last year (me and son 14) nice pool, tennis and ping pong.

Pitches nicely spaced and broken up by trees, never felt you were on top of anyone.

French style toilets - not a hole in the ground but cubicle’s in a row all facing outdoors (it’s France) - don’t take that as a negative comment - just saying if you have not been to France.

Around the corner is a WW2 museum / site with a big bunker - another member recommended it whilst I was there and my 14 loved it (discounts in camp reception).

Small resterant and takeaway (only used takeaway) reasonable from what I remember but limited choice.

One thing to note if not been to France - normally can’t wear swim shorts only trunks (most places in France).

Anyway we did not know that - phoned around a few places and gave up - we wore swim shorts and no one said anything

French roads are great - we made sure we avoided toll roads - lovely scenery - so much less traffic than UK and relaxed (and little places to stop).

BTW - was our first trip to Europe (we did Netherlands, Belgium then France).

I was super panicky about doing it - but knew if I had a problem could reach out to the forum for advice.
Second this, great site

Do you want me to drive it on while you close your eyes? :geek:
That will go on a treat, you'll crap yourself as you go over the overlapping metal plates of the ramp and the boat but that's tempered by the concentration required to park exactly where you're told by the matelots in bright orange and the fear of stalling only to be hated by your fellow camper van drivers, basically it's the most amount of adrenaline for the least amount of actual danger.
Here's us and a few others on the Poole/Cherbourg crossing last year...
