Not a campsite but if you drink enough you’ll probably stay the night.

We’ve stayed at Chateau Les Eaux a few times but in a static caravan (Eurocamp). It has a fantastic indoor pool. It was the place where our kids went to the bakery on their own to get breakfast - prob age 5&7

Great site as there's a repurposed railway line behind the site which if you turn left is a 10 minute walk into town and if you turn right is an half hour cycle ride to Mont St Michel.
In our case we caught the early morning Poole ferry across to Cherbourg.
St Malo with it's walled City is just along the coast too, very civilised.

Having a bit of a mare with the ferry on the date I’m going. Was hoping to do Portsmouth to st malo but the cabins are full on way out. Looking at other options possibly into Cherbourg or Roscoff which is even better or I could go to Caen. Any recommendations within 2/3 hours from Caen??

Camping Pas-de-Calais ~ ᐃ CHATEAU DU GANDSPETTE ****
Stayed here last year (me and son 14) nice pool, tennis and ping pong.
Pitches nicely spaced and broken up by trees, never felt you were on top of anyone.
French style toilets - not a hole in the ground but cubicle’s in a row all facing outdoors (it’s France) - don’t take that as a negative comment - just saying if you have not been to France.
Around the corner is a WW2 museum / site with a big bunker - another member recommended it whilst I was there and my 14 loved it (discounts in camp reception).
Small resterant and takeaway (only used takeaway) reasonable from what I remember but limited choice.
One thing to note if not been to France - normally can’t wear swim shorts only trunks (most places in France).
Anyway we did not know that - phoned around a few places and gave up - we wore swim shorts and no one said anything
French roads are great - we made sure we avoided toll roads - lovely scenery - so much less traffic than UK and relaxed (and little places to stop).
BTW - was our first trip to Europe (we did Netherlands, Belgium then France).
I was super panicky about doing it - but knew if I had a problem could reach out to the forum for advice.

We’ve stayed at Chateau Gandspette a couple of times and are staying again this summer on our way to Switzerland. We think it’s a brilliant campsite and Julien is very helpful and accommodating.
The food in the restaurant is good and very reasonably priced. I think a bottle of house Muscadet was around €10 - it was a couple of weeks ago though.
We only discovered it thanks to this forum. Recommended.

France in August will be rammed, especially near the coast. The later you go the quieter it’ll be. Normandy won’t disappoint.
Camping Blanche Nef in Barfleur is a gem.
Easy driving on the French side! You’ll arrive well before check-in time! When departing, you’ll have nearly a whole day at the site before needing to hit the road!Just to update I’ve booked Plymouth to Roscoff ferry and then camping du letty for 2 weeks. Can’t wait! Thanks for the feedback guys
