New Van Delivered Minus The Electric Door Option

Fuming. Van has arrived at the dealer today without the specified electric twin sliders. I only asked for these and the 2/1 bench as options as it's the Edition.
Due to travel on the train from Cornwall on Thursday to collect. Really not sure what to do. Don't want to wait another 2 months for another to be built.
Retro fit are £4500 and would take 4 days. Cant see the dealer paying that and I also can't be without my work van for that long.
No other stock available apparently. Maybe I should see if there's a DSG model with those options that they can pay for!
Ideas? Advice anyone?

It's not what you ordered so don't accept, loan van until the spec you ordered arrives.

There's realistically not a great deal you can do I suspect.
Ok, so you can reject the van, and the dealer won't have any great issues selling it to someone else, but like you said, you'd have to wait for another one to be processed.
I get how gutted you are though, as it's a pretty big box you ticked, and not one that can be added now without quite a battle with the dealer.

Might have to suck this one up, and move on with your stonking Edition, which personally I'm a big fan of.

Nightmare . . . . know how you feel.

Had a similar issue with a new T5.1 years ago.

it was delivered minus the RNS510 satnav, The cruse control, the MFS and the xeon headlights...

refused the van at first . . . . but then after being told it was another 20 week wait for another new build i took a different route.....

we ended up getting quotes for 3rd party retro-fit parts plus fitting (because VW dealers wouldn't do it - end off)

Then had a meeting with the Dealers commercial branch manager . . . . ( the branch manager said - "what would it take for you to take this van as it is?"

so i though - - - Yes, Get in! They know they have fluffed up and now its gonna cost them.

The quotes we got come to £6500 to retro fit the stuff they had missed......

we ended up agreeing to accept the van as it was with a £2500 discount as a good will gesture from the dealer.

The missing parts were then removed from the original costing/invoice, then minus the good will gesture and we took the van.

Ended up getting all the bits fitted ourselves with the help of 3rd party retro fitters.

and what caused the problem originally? - well we were told that a new computer ordering system had been put in place and the order had got messed up.

Human error or a buggy software i dont know . . . . . but that was my experience.

What about power latching ? better than nothing and relatively quick to fit. Pauly on here has the kits.

What Phantom said.

Loan van while they order a new one and a free five year warranty upgrade. They will expedite the replacement van by using someone elses build slot and then bullshytting whoevers slot they have stolen..

Power latching is standard. I upgraded to full electric as my kids struggle to open doors with my van parked on a sloping driveway.

Hi @mjn
I have an edition with full electric doors, these work great when opening up hill but can not cope with the closing down hill and bounce around everywhere, most of time they stop and re open. You have to add a bit of guidance when closing!
Ok on the flats but a bit of an pain on the incline!

Thanks for the info. Guess it depends on how steep the slope is.

Few years ago, the monster in law ordered a new mini that arrived incorrectly built, the dealer eventually let her keep the wrong one until the correct one had been built. Good luck, can only imagine your disappointment/frustration.

Do you think I should still sell my current T5.1 tomorrow and insist on a loan van until a replacement is delivered? Wouldn't be paying my finance lease so would save a few £££

Difficult without knowing what the dealer is planning as you risk no van if you can’t agree a course of action and reject the van.

I had a problem with my build, if you don’t get what you want from the dealer get straight in touch with VW. It will get sorted out then.

I’ve heard plenty of people Moan about the sliding doors being a bitch to shut without the electric sliders! Or power latching If that’s what you wanted then you should get what you asked for!

I would continue the 5.1 sale. Reject the order as it is dealer/ VW’s fault. Insist they loan you a free of charge van whilst they build you what you want.
Had the same on an Audi a few years ago, ended up in a free vehicle for 6 months whilst they sorted out my order. Free car for 6 months I was well pleased!

If you intend keeping the new van for any length of time, you will always look at it & wish you’d held out for what you wanted. Electric latching was missing from the side door of my T6 when I went to pick it up, I left the van in the showroom & walked out. Fortunately it was an easy fix & the van was ready the next day, but I didn’t know that when I left it stood there.
In life, you get what you settle for.

We had t5 velle fully loaded. Electric side doors were temperamental on inclines and especially winter times in UK, not to mention Alps. We don't have it on t6 (power latching on velles is std).
P.S. Our kids are doing well with all fingers still attached.

Had a similar issue with a new t6,, The dealer gave me a cali free for 3 months untill i got sorted, GOOD LUCK BUDDY
