Just a few words to say "Thanks for having me".... currently have a t5.1 on a 65 plate... that is going to be converted to a day/camper... Have decided to break the build down into 3 lumps.... base build, kitchen, bed.... as we are looking to have all the usual gear, sound deadening, insulation, fresh ply, carpet, windows, kitchen and 3/4 bed in..... plus I also need to sort out the front and rear bumpers (colour coded), as its only a startline version... but thankfully its only a 1 careful owner van with a genuine 17k on the clock (11k in the first 3 yrs and 6 in the last 2yrs) and is in exceptional condition with everything it should have with it.... have been looking for ages to buy and looked at loads... some good but a lot bad sadly... and am more than pleased with what we have landed with... so will be trawling through the builds and getting to know whats the score with the VW brand.... as this is the first one I have owned.... only wish my dad still had the VW Karisma that I remember as a teenager.... so be gentle with me at first eh.... looks like a top forum with some nice folk on it... who obviously know more than a thing or two about the VW brand.... Thanks for that..... would of loved to of dropped on a nice T6, but as things are.... they are just out of my price bracket... wish I had started the search earlier before the dreaded Covid meant that prices shot through the roof.... I actually looked at T6's but unless I wanted one with more miles than the Starship Enterprise then I had to "settle" for a T5.1, but even so... to me its far better to get a decent van to start with than just buying a reg plate... maybe once its finished it will make me enough money to buy a nice T6... especially if the prices keep on rising like they are.... I was talking to a local Main Agent and even he was struggling to find what he put as "clean low mileage one owner vehicles"... so there wasn't much chance for me...
They are a great van mate and i am sure you will be happy with it! now you will have the pleasure of planning upgrades and searching the forum on a regular basis - prepare for grief from the other half!!
