New T5 Camper owner - Leisure Battery Charging

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a T5 Campervan and trying to get my head around the leisure battery, charging, hooking up, etc.

- Should the leisure battery trickle charge when you are hooked up to the mains (home, campsite, etc)?
- If hooked up to the mains and the selector is set to VAN, what exactly is getting powered. I can see the dual sockets are powered.
- Do people generally bench charge the Leisure Battery before they go away for a weekend?

Power Management System - PMS3 230v
Leisure Battery - Energy Leisure XL110L

Thanks

Phil

Do you have a DC to DC charger, or a split charge relay? On a T5, that should charge while you’re driving.

I’ve got a CTEK DC-DC charger and don’t plug it in at home. Just let the DC charger sort it while I’m driving there.

The PMS3 has a 12A PSU that will put 13.8V across the selected battery when on the mains. On mine, the van battery is the leisure battery and it’ll charge that when it’s selected and plugged in to the mains.
