I should imagine their might be some one from the trader section on here or one of the VAG Retro Fit type of outlet that appear to be spreading around the country could easily do that or even a VAG specialist. Their are also bound to be members with the appropriate reader and capable of doing that not very far from you also. You have not stated the vehicle model or what size tyre it ought to be and what size it is now. I understand that T6.1 may only be changed once and not reverted?Previous owner added larger swamper wheels but never got the van computer updated. The Speedo is wrong due to this and I’ve read the variant need to change. VW won’t do this, is there anywhere in the midlands that would?
Be aware that having a factory /dashboard Speedo which reads slower than real life is an MOT failure? Doesn't matter what tech you've got on phones etc to guide you. @Dundee_Kev am I thinking right?I have 20's and just use satnav and rearview cam/mirror speedo as an indicator they are satellite acurate and show true speed
@CRS Performance is this something you can fix?Previous owner added larger swamper wheels but never got the van computer updated. The Speedo is wrong due to this and I’ve read the variant need to change. VW won’t do this, is there anywhere in the midlands that would?
That's good to know. Mine's never been driven as part of MOT though so not sure how they'd know...Be aware that having a factory /dashboard Speedo which reads slower than real life is an MOT failure? Doesn't matter what tech you've got on phones etc to guide you. @Dundee_Kev am I thinking right?
All i can find online is that it's a minor? Not sure if that means it's an advisory... maybe I better get mine reprogrammed heheBe aware that having a factory /dashboard Speedo which reads slower than real life is an MOT failure? Of course though most speedo over read by a small % up to 10% by Law I think but zero under read and I think that the French Authorities are trying to demand that, that is the case evermore by about 4% or something similar. Of course in North Wales there is zero tolerance and that may possibly also the case in a few other Local Authorities also. Most police authorities used to tolerate 10% plus 2mph which is quite generous but since recession its gone down nationally to just 10% depending on Authority. School Holiday times are the most profitable as they can catch people from outside the area and only irritate locals a little and often as not post up in the little grubby local news papers exactly when and where speed traps will be operating. Though there has been a huge implementation of using unmarked Police vehicles here in Wales over the last few years and I guess that they can pounce anywhere and where ever they fancy regardless.Yes, its a T6.1. I dont have plans to change the wheels back and I would rather have the speedo correct as I can be driving 70 but its really 77. I was told VW do it but having paid £138 at Birmingham Van centre they said the wont and to change the wheels back to standard size. Originals were 16 with circ 83.2 and new ones 17 with 92.8 circ
Road casualties and insurance claims have fallen markedly in these areas of Wales. They seem like pretty good reasons on their own to me.I follow the limits because I value my licence but do not agree on most of them if it was just housing estates hospitals and schools then OK but here one can travel miles at 20mph no rime nor reason.
I would like to know how they measure that and compare. Their are many ways of presenting information to slant towards so call proof. perhaps somewhere the statistics for what they are support some sort of evidence. The whole thing in Wales is an absolute joke. I have driven over large parts and in many places little attention is given to the 20mph limits in other areas bring in huge revenues from ticketing just where are these areas that are seeing reduced casualties and deaths. If true it is not because the limits are being observed because in the main they are not. People do not even observe the limits outside of Hospitals, when I say people I mean most people. It is easy to see where they are being obeyed by single drivers at the head of traffic it is when one sees concertina effects. That is all follow the leader. Start off separated at the end its all compressed. Its a joke how the 20mph areas are set out here no proper surveys little or no consultation. It is frequently seen that some areas with no 20 should have a 20 and many more that have 20 should not, even in the village nearest to me. Not the slightest bit of applied intelligence.Road casualties and insurance claims have fallen markedly in these areas of Wales. They seem like pretty good reasons on their own to me.
If other loons don't like it and want to go hooning then let them, that's their problem.
It's no joke if simple things, such as staying alive, are important to you.The whole thing in Wales is an absolute joke.
That’s not correct. It can be done in a way that allows it to go back.Mine is also a T6.1 on 275/40r20 wheels. Speedo is accurate at 30 Mph, but out by 3 Mph at 70 Mph. My local VW specialist is going to recalibrate my speedo next week for £45.00. They stated that once amended though, it can’t be reversed.
Out of interest can you change it back with Carista?I used Carista to change my T6.1.
