I realise that there are a million threads on this topic but this is a question for those specifically with Skyline Pop Tops: I gather that the maximum thickness for a mattress/topper in a standard Skyline is 30mm - this doesn't seem very much - is it just a question of pulling it out every time you fold it down? Seems a bit of a faff....... We currently have a SIM which is OK but even when evacuated with a pump does not reduce enough to allow the pop top to sit completely flush as there are folds at the back. Just wondered what people do to minimise effort when de-camping

We also have a skyline roof and 50mm mattress; a lot of the time when we've left the mattress up there the rubber seals don't meet the van when we pull everything down.
Is there a knack to getting it all down properly? We gave up in the end and just keep the mattress behind the R&R bed now but it's a bit of a pain being there.

Nah we just pull the roof down and it's fine.
Tried to leave our window blinds up there aswell and the roof wouldn't close properly. So the mattress is the limit.

They sell Vango mattresses which fit when deflated apparently so we’re going to try that

biggest gap is at the back. Do you pull your mattress forward when closing or similar? I wonder if something needs to be adjusted?

Hi there. I managed to get hold of a Vango 50mm SIM. Even when inflated to a comfortable pressure it seems to fit under the Skyline OK - I shifted it forwards about 9” to help. Getting the back down needs a bit of encouragement but there’s a good seal front to back. HTHMine arrived today. Sadly the roof won’t seal with it in there

When I was testing earlier, I could seal it by pressing down with probably less than 1kg of pressure. I’m wondering if maybe the back just needs to be tightened or similar too.

Hi all, did we get any further with this? I am thinking of purchasing skylines 30mm mattress or clear cut 35mm mattress? 
As I mentioned, we put a Vango 50mm SIM up there, and if you shift it forwards slightly before you drop the top, it seals well front to back. 35mm should be easily accommodated
It just depends on your roof. Is it the standard skyline roof?
