Low toxic conversion

Hi all, I am planning insulation and sound deadening but want to avoid toxic substances, especially spray adhesive. Is there such a thing as low-toxic glue? Can I use sustainable materials and ply panels, avoiding the use of glue altogether?

Ply is itself many fine layers of heavily processed wood glued together with phenol-formaldehyde. Youll have to rethink your materials, never mind your adhesives, if you are trying to avoid unpleasant materials.

If toxicity is a concern you've got bigger problems. You know how now and again the inside of your windows get hazy and need a clean? Thats the off-gassing of volatile organic chemicals from the interior plastics leaving deposits on the glass - that new car smell is actually toxic!

Sound deadening is typically self adhesive, but I am unsure about the materials used.
Insulation can be found that's made from recycled plastic bottles.
No spray glue required this far, how far are you going?

Interesting one for sure! There must be environmentally safe glues available but Mr Sasquatch makes a very good point about plywood panels.

I see quite a few pictures of (usually bigger) vans with what appears to be solid wood panelling which looks lovely but probably add a lot of weight and therefore higher fuel consumption.

And yes it's a 2 tonne oil burning beast full of plastic and other synthetic materials so depends on what your aiming for I suppose.

A dead horse and a large pot would be the answer...

This is a bizarre thread.
As pointed out why would you be worried about maybe some smell coming from insulation glue when you’re attaching it to a diesel burning van filled with man made products?
I do wonder what the op is trying to achieve? 🤷‍♂️

Probably looking to start a thread on lime putty plaster and hemp or cork versus sheeps wool for thermal insulation and sound deadening using wattle and daub to mass load the panels.
I've been thinking about a driveaway awning using birch branches and turf. 🤔

OP hasn't been on since 20 minutes after the original post yesterday afternoon. I would have popped back a few times to see what answers I got if it was me. Especially as it was its first post.
