Loss Of Confidence In Dealership

I've had a fault with my T6 since the day i purchased it, on cold start and very cold conditions it makes a noise that resembles a worn water pump bearing, the vans been back to the dealership so many times I've lost count, one occasion they had the van for a week put 500 miles on it and said they couldn't find a fault, 20 minutes after picking it up it started, on a trip into Germany the oil light came on twice, luckily i found a VW dealership with a English speaking technician who not only sorted oil issue informed me the auxiliary/secondary air pump was the cause of the noise, I've asked the dealership to replace the pump under warranty they say they can't without the fault being present, I've lost all confidence in them, my next dealership is 45 miles away, can independent workshops carry out warranty work... suggestions anyone

The vacuum pump is part of the oil pump in the sump, was that what he was referring to?
Mine makes a similar noise sometimes and I put that down to the auxiliary belt tensioner I know a few have been changed.

I have a very similar noise on my 2016 140 DSG but not just from cold but always on overrun or tickover.
It has had the tensioner recall and the dealer said it was the variable vane turbo and was normal but is louder than I think is right.
Out of warranty in a few months so might book it back in and suggest them to check the auxiliary/secondary air pump.

From what I can make out from the technician in Germany , and please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm no mechanic and the technicians English was good but we did have issues with some technical translations, but from what I can make out there is a secondary/ auxiliary air pump involving hot gases from a cold start, apparently when the engine is cold the pump takes hot gases from the manufold to the catalytic converter to make the converter work efficiently from a cold start, the pump only works when the engine is cold or in very cold conditions or when the cat isn't to temperature, the area of Germany I visit quite often gets temperature to -15 degrees, and the technician said they had changed a a number of pumps on the T6 last winter, i hoping this is potentially why mine only makes the noise on cold start. Does that make sense to anyone, still doesn't get away from the fact my dealership won't listen to me

What you are describing sounds like the EGR valve.
