Loose wire in the engine bay

I noticed this loose wire in the engine bay, next to the battery the other day when I was topping up the fluids. Short of going to a auto electrician does anyone know if it should be attached?

Boo is a 2001 T6.1 150 Startline with the business pack and has been converted with the addition of a leisure battery & Victron kit.

It disappears into a loom that runs around to the back of the battery and along the firewall.
@BrizzleRocker is everything working OK with no faults etc?
I suspect someone has just forgotten to reconnect it when changing the battery, but it must be there for a reason, and theoretically create a fault code if not connected surely?

My van is a 2022 t6.1 bog standard trendline with no modifications apart from a couple of VCDS adaption changes (chirp on locking type stuff etc)

Is it a red/gray 0.75mm² wire? If yes - feed to battery monitor control unit.

Thanks for all the replies. The only noticeable fault since it came back from the conversion is in the start/stop hasn’t worked. Looking at the pics it seems there wasn’t room for this wire after they fitted the charging kit. I think I’ll reattach it and see what happens!

I wonder if a previous owner had disconnected it on purpose to disable the stop/start?

It was working before it went for conversion so I suspect the same lack of attention to detail that the rest of it suffered.
