Leaky Threads

Just a quick one. On the roof fixings, is it just the threads that let water in? The Thule footpack I have doesn’t allow for sealing/covering the whole hole as you bolt though a rubber foot then attach the rest to that.

There is a hole and a captive nut below the hole but it isn't a sealed application. You need to bung sealant in to the hole regardless of roof rack, or rail. Even the blanking nuts with rubber gaskets should have a bit of sealant on in my opinion. Belt and braces!

That’s where I’ve gone wrong then - always thought it was just tracking the threads! So basically fill the entire hole with as much sikaflex as I can and probably the bolts!

Perfect

Any water ingress from here onwards will be from faulty windscreen seal tracking up your a pillar (unlikely), leaking sluding window, or it'll be door seals and/or carpet lining folded round in door seal.
