Kampa Cross Air Awning - Fitting?

I know that there are tons of threads with drive aways - but i cannot find any answer to my question, and kampa have been next to useless..

Where do you fit yours on the van? So that the front of the sliding door is just covered? Does this allow for the sliding door to be opened and stay in the tunnel? or are you supposed to have it so that the door exits the tunnel?

Sorry if the question is very stupid, but i dont find anything useful online, and the instructions dont point anything out.. When we tried it last wknd, the sliding door open would hit up hard against the tunnel and i would fear for its longevity..

I think this is a common complaint with a lot of drive away awnings. The Kampa has a connection length of 2m and you are trying to span about 2.25m to allow for the door to open - you could try shifting the connection towards the back of the van but then you would have some of the open sliding door exposed outside of the awning.

Those of us that connect via a rollout, Fiamma type, awning avoid the worst of this problem as a result of the connection being further away from the van's side - not sure how you are connecting but are there any options available to you that would move the connection out and away from the van, eg.. if connecting via a rail you might be able to make up an extra wide Kador strip??

hi there, thanks for the response - i wasnt aware atall of this and feel really disappointed with this..

we're connecting into a vw rail using the kador thingy and figure of 8..

This might help but probably not a lot?? Wide Kador Gusset

Update- sorry you posted whilst I was looking for something - looks like we arrived at a similar place :-)
