Jack Question

My dislike for the single sided single pivot scissors jack came from when I went to assist a fellow motorist who was stuck in a snowy lay by up the A9 with a puncture. He had this type of jack and every time the flat wheel was lifted,as it came clear of the ground the car slid sideways off the jack. At the time the only solution I could come up with was to manoeuvre the car so the wheels opposite the puncture were flush up against the kerb. This stopped the car sliding and got the job done. So for me if I ended up changing a wheel and the road surface wasn’t great, sand, gravel, moss, pine needles , leaves etc etc I wouldn’t be happy with the vw oem jack, as I think the design is in less stable in less than ideal conditions and why I use other types of jack. Have to say have used a double sided double pivot type of scissors jack without any problems but they are more bulky so less convenient for my camper.

The problem of those double sided scissors ("pantograph") ones is that there is not a reliable source.
They are destined only to end - user market, so, even the ones from reputable car accessories brands are just renamed Chinese garbage, done of steel recycled together with plastic.
I did my homework when I searched one for my van years ago, I took the best that one could find (more than 10 pounds big stuff) and I got immediately burnt. It is not the design, as you said the double sided is way better, it is the the material.
Not that I haven't seen trolley jacks fail, especially those riduclus 5 pounds ones wirh 3 t written over.
But at least there is a pro and a semi-pro market for them, to buy from.

Question - I believe the T32 jack is different (stronger) to the T28/T30 jack.

Can anyone confirm that ? as it might be an option for my T30 to avoid issues.

I have a t32 and associated jack. Not aware that the jack is any different to “normal” jacks, but it’s still rubbish and has been replaced with a bottle jack.
I have a T32 too, and I agree that bottle ones would be much better, but I didn't find any suitable one at the time I searched.
All had too short stroke, about 100 mm, insufficient to reliably lift the wheel from the floor with my standard suspension. Is yours a double stroke/piston one? Did you try it out in real life ?

Mines an Aldi 5t double stroke job. Used it in anger on the van and the boat trailer.
