69 plate 205 DSG kombi van.

Engine management light illuminated.
Diagnosed as Fault code for the particulate matter sensor.
Also advised by VW to drill a 3mm hole in the DPF casing to allow condensation to drain away?!?

Sensor G784 must also be replaced. 04L906261G

I can only find 04L906261K online...

Conflicting information about these being interchangeable?
The price difference is significant as the garage (VW & Audi Specialist) will only source from the manufacturer.

Please advise...

"Also advised by VW to drill a 3mm hole in the DPF casing to allow condensation to drain away?!?"

Am looking forward to seeing the answers on this one. I'll just get my popcorn.
Don't worry - no one will have a go at you on this forum!

Actually I saw too a German document where was an official "modification" made by VW on the DPF consisting in a 3mm hole to be done on the bottom of it.
I believe it was for the DMAx engines version (sorry @Sasquatch ...)
There was all the "how to" procedure, with VW document number, etc. Not sure of the authenticity of it, I wanted to ask to my dealer, but seen how disinterested they are about service I have given up.
Tomorrow I will have a look if I can still find the document.

No need to apologise. My tongue was firmly in my cheek!

Cannot find the original VW internal document any more.
But here is its TPI number and some text reference to it, in German,.sorry for that. Maybe our "insiders "can find it out. Interesting part at the end.

VW TPI 2068597/3:

Kunden/innenaussage:
Störungsanzeige für Abgaskontrollsystem aktiv
Störungsanzeige für Motormanagement aktiv
Werkstattfeststellung:
Einer oder mehrere der folgenden Ereignisspeichereinträge ist/sind abgelegt:
P24AE00 (Partikelsensor Messelektrode elektrischer Fehler)
P24C600 (Partikelsensor Temperaturgeber elektrischer Fehler)
Der Partikelsensor G784 ist defekt.

Technischer Hintergrund

Exhaust gas condensate or leaking engine coolant from EGR or Charge coolers:rolleyes:

Finally managed to get hold of a knowledgeable guy at VW Cardiff...

The 3mm hole is a thing specific to certain engines...!!
But VW will only notify owners when specific codes flag during diagnostic test.
(needless to say he wouldn't tell me the codes)

Also... The G is significant in terms of sensor location.

I found the specific sensor online...
Garage happy to fit if all the numbers match.

To my understanding the "modification" is only for the T6.1 DNAx and DMx engines, (Bosch ECU) that also have a more complicated exhaust gas management.
