You will always get an ice build up as moisture from the fresh lower section will always be able to get in there. Obviously the chest type have a better seal on the doors/lid so you wont suffer as much with one of those as they tend to be split in 2 but the combi type will always have a build up issue. As CGT says you could remove the door and slide and it would help a little but no ice cubes You could try a moisture trap in the lower section and see if that helps
We haven’t had the ice box shelf/door in since basically day one and I believe the temperature across the 2 sections basically averages out. You can turn down the fridge if it is still too cold but as the cold air should fall it shouldn’t be such a problem. We find ice builds up at the top (and if it thaws a bit then drips down on the food/beer) but clearing it out if it’s on for a long period and letting the air circulate should help. It’s at least then not an ICEilated problem
When it’s dark put a torch in the fridge and close the door. If you can see light the door hinges need adjusting.
Obviously avoid opening the door for longer than needed or putting warm food in the fridge.
Even with a perfect seal the humidity in the air is going to condense and freeze. 98% RH where I’m at now, if the fridge is empty that’s the full volume of air exchanged every time the door is opened.
