How often do you open your rear windows?

I have a kombi with sliding windows on both sides but they leak and I'm replacing them. I can't decide if I should replace them like for like or if maybe at least on one side (the door side) I should get a fixed window.

So, how often do you open yours? Is there any point in having an opening window in the sliding door or do you normally just have the door open anyway?

As I've not used the van as a camper yet I'd love to hear your real life experiences.

Get two safari style. I wish I had.

In reality i have a sliding window on off side (drivers side) and a fixed window on slider. Seems to be okay. Not used the van much as a camper yet though.

Safari style windows are possibly a little gimmicky but having windows open slightly to ventilate with low risk of water ingress to me seems really appealing

I like the idea of the safari windows but they are pretty expensive and I'm really worried about people walking in to them. Not sure if that is a silly thing to worry about..

We have a sliding window in the offside and a fixed on the sliding door. We always have the door open, often sleep with it open or at least ajar but very rarely open the window. With the vents in the pop top and the door it seems a bit unnecessary but I would definitely keep it, maybe a safari window instead though

Caravelle Exec Fixed windows. Did wish that they where sliders but hearing all the depressing news about leaks, rot and falling out on the move I will not bother! If their where sliders that did none of those things perhaps. Not sure what is meant by safari window if it those that hinge from the top then I really like them. Can have them open when parked up even in the rain. That can not be bad! Bit of a concern if someone might walk into them but do not use camp sites as a rule. I have a plan to either get my long term owner Walas Cooker/Heater going or buy a new Walas Diesel Cooker/Heater. Mount that on a re moveable frame with fuel plus Battery and have a blanking plate for the window with a small chimney vent for the cooker/heater. Then it could all be removed when required.

We don't have any openers and sometimes kinda wish we had .
Might go for a couple of safari's .
Not worried about people walking into them ....yes of course I'll do it myself a couple of times but I'll learn eventually and the more it hurts the faster I'll learn right ?
I do like the idea of being able to open them even if it's raining .

A window there could be useful while travelling for rear passengers but as you can’t have the safaris open while travelling and if parked up you can just open the door I can’t see it being used much

Have seen an image of a safari window on the rear door and also on the other aft windows.

I've had my factory Kombi for 6 years now and I've never opened the rear windows, never felt the need.
