Holbrook

Holbrook ripped me off massively and lied multiple times. I reserved a van and paid for in full, and they lied and sold it to someone else for more money. They held £40000 of my money for months and refused to refund. This held back my whole van build and had to start all over again. Matt has awful attitude and was extremely rude, swearing and shouting at me. Matt and Candice were both nice in person when first meeting, until they had the money in hand, then I was ghosted for 8 weeks with no replies or updates.

After doing some research myself I found out the van I had paid for was never mine and they lied through the whole process while I was under the assumption it was in the workshop being converted. They say they buy their vans from VW direct, when they actually come from Manheim auctions and other local auctions so please ask for proof of everything. When I queried about the auctions they told me I was asking for too much and that I was wrong, and told to back off. I spoke to the auction company and it was confirmed the van was purchased from there, and they provided photos which matched the photos Matt send to me via email. Promises after promises and didn’t deliver, was left with nothing but lies and months of stress.

I’ve finally finished my van and have met with multiple local suppliers since to have work done on it and they have all said Holbrook are awful to work with and they’ve pulled the plug collaborating with them. Holbrook used to outsource all their conversions (while advertising that it was done in-house and promising quick turnarounds) but companies will no longer work with them because of Matt’s behaviour and refusing to pay bills to suppliers.
Could you recommend any of the local suppliers you used to rectify your problems? We could really do with some help sorting out the many faults on our van, and there is no way I would ever go back to Holbrook Dubs.
Thanks.

My friend uses these but she is in Barry.

Christ there’s some spikey people in here. I’ve come on here solely to defend Matt and candice after reading these. My experience couldn’t be any different. Holbrook customs were absolutely awesome to us. In fact we have a group of Holbrook customs campers that all go camping together. Everyone is buzzing about their campers. To anyone reading this don’t listen to these key board warriors. You couldn’t meet a nicer couple than Matt and Candice. Thanks to Matt and Candice weve been able to gift our children the life they deserve. Simply the best bunch of people and the best campers. Holbrook customs are the best.

I’m really glad to hear you had a great experience, that’s how it should be for anyone investing in a van. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for me. I genuinely hope Holbrook has taken earlier feedback on board and that things have improved for future customers

Having now gone through the full process, I felt it was only fair to leave an honest update based on my own personal experience.

Personally, I could not recommend using Holbrook Customs based on what we experienced after purchase.

Some of our issues included:
  1. Faults present shortly after collection
  2. Parking sensor problems that required further attention
  3. Air conditioning faults that we had to resolve independently
  4. Window blinds sold/supplied as Vanshades, which we later discovered were not Vanshades
  5. Delays and difficulty getting matters resolved through normal communication channels
To be fair, some matters were eventually resolved, but only after a lengthy process and with legal assistance through our insurance policy.

Overall, we are now happy with our van and have been able to move forward, but the aftersales experience was stressful and far more time-consuming than it should have been after spending a significant amount of money.

My honest advice to anyone collecting a converted van from any company would be to inspect everything carefully on collection, keep all communication in writing, and make sure you have legal cover in place through your motor insurance.

Just sharing my own experience so others can make an informed decision.

A bit over the top?
I half expected to read on and find that Holbrook Campers had found a cure for cancer.
Anyway, last seen on 17/10/25.
Every single post was in defence of Holbrook Campers.
Then nothing since.
Make your own mind up. I have.
