Hilo Roof With Roof Rails??

so I know it can be done but what does it look like... can anyone who has a Hilo with roof rails share some pics of them on top and how they bolt onto the Hilo roof?

They’re just bolted through the metal frame that runs around the underside of the roof. Make sure the bolt holes are sealed though

As @Deaky says, the MOST critical part to mounting roof bars, be that on to a Hilo, original metal roof, or any other elevating roof, is to seal the bolts/ rail feet, where they pass through the roof. Too many people have had big water ingress problems by this.
Two significant ones that spring to mind are:-
@Northern Monkey who had them fitted to the original metal roof, by the dealer. Water ingress so bad it trashed the Velle and led him to reject the vehicle. And
@andythom188 who had them fitted to his Hilo by the roof installer only to find waterfalls on the inside during a deluge.
Neither offering had been sealed properly.

Had water ingress when had rails fitted to original t6 roof aswel, never again will i have roof bars

I’ll second that, and to be honest I prefer the velle without them.
