Hi people

As was stated above living in a vehicle is different than a week end or even a week or so and a high top that facility would be with you at all times. However a high top can not get under many barriers. That might not be a problem but you might consider that because they are being used in places to prevent larger commercial vehicles and campers which are bigger than a Transporter from occupying some parking spots and also some inner town areas.
That doesnt bother me to be honest.
If a shower could be fitted in a regular t6.1 that could be used when the top is up, i would def go for that!!

In that case it might be the best for you. there are a few on here with that sort of Transporter, have a look around on here and you will see.

I want a van that is comfortable ,not prone to certain issues with engine etc, also that doesnt have a converted roof as pointless for me.

So, are you after a van with a pop-top or not? A deployed pop-top isn't exactly stealthy.

Autosleeper used to do a Lwb transporter T4 with a shower in the 90's. I'm not sure if any mainstream converters do that layout anymore.
Leisuredrive do one with a toilet and sink in a sectioned off area at the rear, can't recall what the design is called

If i had to deploy the pop top i would make sure i was parked somewhere where no humans roamed..:)
Fair enough, but a standard pop-top is an obvious sign of a camper, even when it isn't deployed, and will increase the likelihood of you being noticed if/when overnighting in a an urban/suburban environment. So, if you decide to go down the "Transporter with a pop-top route" (which I don't recommend - I'm with @T6Plumber re the Crafter option), you should seriously consider a van with a stealth pop-top - the best are barely discernible from the factory roof, especially when it's dark.

I have now read the rest of this thread - you need a different vehicle to a T6 in my opinion.
This is a previous vehicle of mine - a Mercedes 508D ex 19-seater bus that I sold to a girl that was doing much the same thing as you. Shower/toilet etc etc. I sold it for £3500 so quite a difference on what you would pay for a T6. These old Mercs were slow but extremely dependable good for many thousands of miles. This one had been touring Spain for years before I bought it and I used it all round the UK - never using a campsite. BUT do not overstay your welcome in any one place, move on after a night or two at the most, it keeps the locals sweet.
