Is that full time living with a Pembroke Corgi? Our four Pems enjoy a a trip in the van but I can't imagine living with them in it.

Something like the below. It suits long term living better due to fixed bed and potential shower/toilet cubicle options. If it's just you then maybe a day van could work though.

Yes, only for me.

I want a van that is comfortable ,not prone to certain issues with engine etc, also that doesnt have a converted roof as pointless for me.

I only need a single bed too. No hob, or fridge as i dont use those even now in a house!

As i mentioned, i dont have a clue in full specs. I have been interested for a few years though and, i love the Transporter!!

I aim to use it full time. Travelling abroad too on occasions. Hundred times better than living in a shared house with druggies, noise, filth etc etc...

The vehicle that was suggested above would be ideal to live in long term! Personal I realise but is that too high a price, OK or could go higher. Some people just live in cars but long term that is no good. What ever vehicle, it need to be insulated, not just to keep you warm but in cold weather a van would be dripping wet in no time at all with condensation mainly from you breathing. You need long enough length to sleep comfortably, ideally somewhere to wash though that could be outside if you are tough enough in the winter and must consider the other thing you know have a poo must think that out. If you are on the road it must be road legal at all times. Have a good idea where you might camp out, security for you personally and the van, it will be your home. If you are fortunate enough to have employment then commuting must be considered. If the actual issues of a van are talked out then less likely to make a dreadful expensive mistake. Do not settle for the worst thing just because you may think it acceptable because you may end up in it longer term and better to have something sorted kit wise in advance. If a van is chosen badly then it could affect mental health so needs to be adequate at least for that :)

Welcome to the forum @koolpc.

As above, a VW Crafter (or a MAN TGE) would be much better suited to van living than a Transporter could ever be. The Crafter linked to by @Badjamin would be a great option... if your budget could stretch to it.

If not or you insist on a Transporter, then you need to maximise internal space and go for a LWB with a hightop roof. This combo will seriously restrict your pool of available vans, but I seriously doubt anyone could hack living in a van long term if they weren't able to stand upright in it.

You will need insulation and heating and, if going to warmer climes, you'll also need aircon, which means either a Startline spec with the added Business Pack option or a Trendline/Highline (both of which come with aircon as standard).

As much as I love camping in my van, the mere thought of living in it full time makes me anxious, so I wish you the very best of luck in your quest. Personally, I'd try to bag me a rich lady friend and go for the "asymmetric pooling of funds" (aka sponging) to get myself on the housing ladder!

I would buy a van that has been converted properly...to suit all weathers etc....

I been living in the same 'room' for several years....its been awful. A van may be a good way out of the life i am currently living....

I do love the Transporter but open to others...

There are some incredible informed and knowledgable people on the forum. I hope some can assist you with knowledge towards buying and owning a van that is suitable for your new life and way forward.

The reason for my question was dependant on your needs ,toilet, shower, hook up etc depends on what van suits your needs .

Basically if you are gonna be living on a campsite with facilities it's more do-able to live in a little van but obviously comes at a cost and needs to be budgeted for .
Also location of said campsite needs to possibly be within commuting distance from work if that's a consideration.
