Hesitation to start after EHU

Hi guys, bit of a strange one.......

I've noticed after each overnight stay I've had in the van when I've been on EHU, the van hesitates to start in the morning. Is it somehow draining/using the vans battery? It doesn't hesitate to start any other time, even if I've not driven it for a few days. Its a 2019 plate so not sure if its on it original battery or not as Im sure I've read the original battery was a bit turd??

It depends very much on your electrical setup. Are you confident that all the electrics you are using when parked up are using just the leisure battery ?

Yeah or at least I thought I was ha ha. I've only done 3 stays as I've not had the van long

This is interesting as mine is similar I can go away for a night and following morning it's like a flat battery but it does start, then last week was away for 3 nights when we left started no problem at all as far as I know everything is running off the leisure battery

The EHU could be a red herring. If you don’t have a supplementary means of maintaining the starter battery, it will discharge due to opening the doors, courtesy lights etc. if you’re camping & in and out of the van, the starter battery will be constantly discharging as the van “wakes up” each time you open the doors. Bear in mind that the battery will only be 80% charged to start with due to the stop/start system.

Ensure your starter battery is in good condition.
Ensure that there is nothing else draining your starter battery - USB devices plugged into permanently on sockets in the cabin etc.
Buy a device that automatically tops up your starter battery when your leisure battery is being charged.
Use a battery charger to top up your starter battery when on site.

Interestingly we never have this problem with our camper. The battery is over 5 years old, and happily starts the van after being left for 4 weeks. We rarely leave the van unused for more than 2 days when on-site, so the battery gets charged when we drive somewhere.
