Help With Purchasing A New T6. Owners Of T3 Synchro

Hi everybody Craig and Tamsin here. We are in the process of purchasing a brand new 2018 T6 VW 4 motion with Diff lock. A question to all (i bet it's been asked before so we are sorry if so).

A quick history. We are the owners of a 1988 VW T3 Synchro 4WD with decoupler and fully converted campervan. We love it but are upgrading. We have camped in the snow. Driven on Fraser Island. Beaches. Bush tracks etc.

Here's the question... unsure whether to purchase the rough road and shock absorption suspension for the T6. What are the benefits? Does it increase height? Is after market a better option? or not get it at all?g

I know @Bryn23 has fitted a similar kit to the one you've mentioned however his is from a company called Seikel Home - Seikel

My Mexican T6 (LWB T32) has the rough road suspension package. I've only had it a few weeks but I can tell you that the ride is very firm and stable on rough surfaces. Massive sway bar at the rear. Ground clearance is 9 to 10 inches depending on where you measure...comparable to my '83 Westfalia. Lots of room for suspension travel.

I'm looking at getting a T6 TDI400 4Motion van as a work vehicle during the week and an adventure van on weekends.
I will need to make it offroad capable as possible without spending mega bucks on suspension upgrades.
The van I test drove last week sat higher than the other transporters/multivans in the lot (pic below). I didn't ask if it had the optional suspension upgrade as I was more interested in the performance of the TDI400/dsg and general driving feel of it.
I'm waiting for the dealer to email me more details re the factory suspension option

Check the VAG option codes on the vehicle. If you see 1BJ then it's got the beefed up suspension.

1BJ = Uprated suspension/shock absorption front and rear

In Aus i think we will give it a good test haha just like we have with the T3 Syncro
