Hello,

I want to install some work light on my van. In specific I want to install Lazer utility 25 maxx: These lights works with 45W.

I want to instal the light in the rear of my van (MAN TGE) and I want to route the cable from the rear pilar to the bottom of the van until the bonet (where I have the fuse box). So I am calculating around 10m. By cable I want to install 2 lights so in total by cable will drop 90W.

Could you help me with the cable size? 10AWG? 12AWG? thanks!

Hi.

Assuming 90 W load @ 12 V equals 7.5 Amp draw.

Using this handy voltage drop calculator

6 mm CSA cable (closest to 10 AWG) will give a volt drop over a 10 mtr run of 0.471 volts. (This is based on their cable specs, but should be pretty generic). This gives best case voltage at the load of approx 11.5 volts, working off an assumed 12 v battery.

Your lights (I’ve checked) will work off a range of 10 - 32 v DC.

So I’d say 10 AWG will be fine.

Cheers.
