Symptoms are the climate control only seems to blow either hot or cold, no in between, so the car is either roasting hot or freezing cold. I also can hear a clicking sound that occurs every second or so. (Maybe a relay opening / closing?)
I have scanned the car and this is the HVAC fault:
Address 08: Auto HVAC (J255) Labels:* None
Part No SW: 8X0 820 043 C HW: 8X0 820 043 C
Component: Klima 1 Zone H13 0090
Serial number: 00000000265332 Dataset Number: 8X0820043 0001
Coding: 6423080010
Shop #: WSC 00046 412 00000
ASAM Dataset: EV_AirCondiFrontAU210 006036
ROD: EV_AirCondiFrontAU210_006.rod
VCID: 34311E990EB79A0A5AB-8060
1 Fault Found:
0004 - Position Sensor for Temperature Flap Motor
B1097 15 [00001000] - Open or Short to Plus
Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
Freeze Frame:
Fault Priority: 3
Fault Frequency: 18
Reset counter: 40
Mileage: 118809 km
Date: 2025.08.01
Time: 11:05:23
Voltage terminal 30: 14.5 V
Temperature door - Specified value-Data: 7.0 %
Temperature flap: actual value-Data: 7.0 %
Supply voltage for external components: 4.9 V
I have searched the code and found it is the part number for the complete climate control unit. I have also found this:
Some users have reported issues with related components, such as servomotors for air mix and central flaps, which can trigger fault codes even after resetting, suggesting potential mechanical problems.
Does this mean it might be a mechanical part that has failed and is showing the same fault code? If so how would I know?
There area a couple of used parts on the Bay at around the £45 mark compared to an eye watering £760 from LLLParts.
Finally I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the climate unit out? I cant find any guide / how to on the net, (maybe its a very uncommon fault).
Thanks in advance.
