Hello!
Started to look at T6 / T6.1s seriously now, with a view to convert one in to a camper. I have managed to find a SWB, 55k miles, Iridium Grey, Highline T6.1 T30 Kombi, and since i am in a position to export it overseas (i am temporarily based abroad) I would be able to get it VAT free. Therefore, looking at around 25.5k. It has all the things i would want (Highline, Colour, Side Windows, Tailgate) and the dealership has done some nice touches such as alcantara around the panels, fitted Sportline side skirts, front splitter.etc). The only thing its lacking, is DSG which is a shame... but i think i can live with that.
Whilst i am out here, i am lucky enough that i can do most of the work VAT free. I have to sell my German Q5 before i come back anyway, and this has always been a dream of mine to do. I would need a 'bridging' loan to enable it before i sell the Q5 which would clear the loan in a few months time. For tax reasons i have to stay out of the UK for 6 months, and my sister's wedding is in April so trying to time this in the right way!
I don't see any negatives, I know people will be bias on here - but i would be going from my Q5 which i have loved using to travel around Europe, to a van. I have seen so often that they are more than capable of being daily vehicles, and so i think i will be happy enough there (though wish it was DSG, the rest of the spec is perfect and seemingly a really nice dealership).
I don't think i am being too impulsive... if i dont do this now, i will kick myself when i get back to the UK, because of all the savings with VAT i can take advantage of here. Plus whilst i could buy a new car tax free, it would depreciate much quicker than a T6!
