Hello All

I’ve been looking to get a T6 campervan for a while! I was a previous owner of a T2 but felt limited by its reliability and overall wish to rust into a thousand pieces.
Recently I have been looking at T6 vans and seem to have found one that fits the bill but was hoping you guys could tell me what you think?

The van is a December 2016 VW Transporter T6 with:

  • Startline specification
  • 102PS 5-speed manual
  • 22,750 miles
  • Candy White
  • Barn Doors
  • Touchscreen DAB radio
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Electric windows and mirrors
  • Start/Stop technology
  • Colour coded bumpers
  • Immobiliser
  • 20 inch alloy
This van would also be bespokely converted by one of the more “reputable” companies.

✓ Thermo-Shield construction, comprising of twin walled habitation compartment insulated with high quality 42oz 10mm wool and felt blend quilting and our own GRP roof with noise reducing aerodynamic spoiler, twin wall polycarbonate panel for added comfort and strength with upholstered double bed and stainless steel high-lift hinges.Fully glazed with heat insulating glass and two sliding windows in the living area.
✓ Precision CNC machined furniture with edge banded locker doors
✓ Kiravans tested twin seat swivel with large integral storage compartment.
✓ Dometic Fridge
✓ 2 Burner hob and grill
✓ 60 litre on board water tank with electric pump
✓ Stainless steel sink and drainer
✓ 110a Leisure battery with fitted Sargant EC160mains distribution and charging system.
✓ 2 x USB Sockets
✓ Webasto programable & thermostatically controlled heating system
✓ 1 touch LED lighting, under cabinet LED and floor level lighting.
✓ RIB seating and bedding system with ISOfix
✓ Tailored cab and habitation area carpet in luxury platinum twist
✓ 25 metre mains lead
✓ 907 Camping Gaz cylinder
✓ 12-month warranty on the conversion
✓ Balance of manufacturer’s warranty on base vehicle or 12-month Venture warranty
✓ Fully serviced and prepared to Volkswagensmaintenance schedule using genuine parts

The price they have offered me all this for would be £31,995

Just wondering what you guys thought?

Thanks

Hello and welcome!!

Guessing it’s from these guys? Buy Used Cars Watford Gap, Northamptonshire | Venture Campers

Assuming it’s a brand new conversion on a second hand van it looks like good value. Main concerns for me would be:-

White with barn doors suggests “builders van” so I would want to know a bit more about it’s life prior to conversion.

102ps at lower end of power but adequate for a camper.

Check whether it’s a T28, T30 or T32 and/or what the converted weight is to see if there will be sufficient payload for how you will use it.

Would want to know more about their own GRP roof.

Good luck!!

Hi Davenjo

Thanks for your reply

The vehicle was purchased from VW financial Services. The vehicle is a T28. The pop-top roof is designed and manufactured by Redline themselves. It is constructed from a twin polycarbonate panel for insulation and additional strength. The fixed aerodynamic spoiler helps to direct airflow up and over the roof resulting in quieter ride...

What do you think?

Personally I'd struggle with a T28. I recently popped up to my local weigh bridge with my van that was ready for a 10day adventure. It weighed in at 2.66t and I still needed to add 2 adult bikes. Approx 40l of fuel the other half and the kitchen sink she packs when going away. At a guess the extra stuff would put us eye wateringly close to the max weight of a T28.
I'd never drop lower than a T30 personally. You however may pack more frugal and be ok. I'd just be aware you may be close to max weight.

It's a pretty well specked van but this all adds weight so, as above, depends how you intend to use it - if, say, its just a couple of people packing for a few days away no problem with a T28 but if, say, for a family of 4 plus bikes, trailer, etc., you will easily be getting close to the 2800kg limit.

Welcome @Max Ashley-Collins, a startline is the most basic of things, and having driven a trendline loan van over the past few days I honestly don’t think I could be without the air con that comes in a highline. It made driving a hideous imposition.

Cheers, Ill keep it in mind. Might have to buy a usb fan!

Max I bought a 140 highline and had it converted, underslung gas, sliding rnr, fiamma awning, 20s, 2 leisure batts, oven 65ltr fridge and cost around 35k, if you can find a cheap van could be worth looking into
