Hello from a new member

Well you've come to the right place...

Welcome to the T6 club...

I am paying over budget for my conversion and I am unsure about diesel/ gas heating, question, is it necessary, and is there a cheaper alternative short term?

I have the ebasparcher diesel heater... yes great addition but there are cheaper alternatives... i know a mate who has a cheaper Chinese copy which was half the price... its been faultless so far... but don't think there will be any aftersales support in the event of issues...

If your only using through the spring and summer then probably manage without and see how you go...

Depends if you or your partner / family feel the cold! We made significant use of our diesel heater this weekend, vans don't hold heat like a house does , especially with the roof up.

Diesel heater is very effective and cheap to run. Our Webasto quietens down a lot once up to temp.

We did research gas, some comments on here that they are noisier (don't idle down), and gas is scarcer than diesel if you only have a bottle.

Cheap Alternative is a small fan heater if you are going to be on EHU every time

Can always add the diesel heater when budget allows.

We have a diesel heater and like @CAB used it this weekend, the people we were with didn’t and were cold even in a thick sleeping bag. I think it’s worth the extra money it cost to add it to our conversion (also over budget). Not sure if the cheaper Chinese options are worth going for have no experience but in other purchases the buy cheap buy twice mantra was definitely true!

btw, welcome to the forum and overspending on your van:)

Thanks for comments, I believe converters run wires for diesel heater in case I change my mind, will give it a go without and see how I get on.

We have a Propex gas heater. It doesn’t get used often as we generally have a hook-up (so use a small electric heater) or are in warmer countries. The odd time we have used it, it has been invaluable, and we wouldn’t be without it as a back up.

Morning,
I have been doing a little research into the diesel heater and I am seeing some fitters quoting a lot less than I have been quoted from my van converter, can anyone recommend a fitter in the Inverclyde/Glasgow area's?
