Heater vent control cable replacement

I know it’s a popular topic. My green cable has kinked so I can’t control the air flow. I have the replacement. What I can’t work out is how to access the end of the cable that goes into the dash. All the videos I can find seem to be for a T5 with access through the glove box. What needs to come apart on a T6 to access this.

You will need to:

1. Remove the trim round the stereo
2. Remove the trim round the heater controls - unclip all the buttons
3. Remove the 4 screws that hold in the heater controls - pull out a bit to get access
4. Snip the old kinked cable near the end with the hoop - look where the hoop goes
5. Unclip the green clip - some VW T6 will have a cable-tie fitted

6. Remove the glove box (7 screws)
7. Follow the cable, reach in and unclip the black clip - needs a bit of force
8. With a firm pull, remove the wee black ball from its socket

Feed in the new cable and fit in the following order:

a. Clip in the wee black ball
b. Clip in the black clip
c. Mount the hoop FIRST
d. then clip in the green clip
e. Secure with a cable tie

Check everything works, then re assemble

Yes @jedkk that is the easiest way to gain access. You can also pop a light into the gap so you can see what is going on.

The black clip needs a bit of force to remove it, but the wee ball pops out (and in) quite easily.
