Has anyone got experience of taking their beloved van to America?

Hi All,

After a successful summer all around the alps and Pyrenees I'm feeling confident in my van and considering shipping her across for a year in America and Canada. Shipping is a little pricey but I'd prefer to haver a van I have built and love than trying to pick something up over there.

A friend mentioned however that transporters aren't sold in the States or Canada and this raises concerns about how difficult it might be to get repairs done whilst there..

If anyone has any experience or thoughts in this regard it'd be great to hear from you.

IIRC there used to be a guy on here from Mexico (but reasonably close to the US border with Texas) who might able to give a bit of advice on spares availability and / or support in the USA. Might be worth a search.
