Handbrake Lowering Brackets

Hi guys.
I have just shortened my twin passenger seat base to my 2016 highline.

When swiveling, it just clears my handbrake.

Been thinking of a shortened handbrake bracket.

Anyone ever fitted one, any special tools needed and do you think it's too low to be practable?

Thanks.

I fitted the Sportscraft handbrake lowering bracket when I fitted my front seat swivels and really didn’t like it! The bracket lowers the handbrake lever by more than it needs to be to clear the seat as it turns and I found I had to lean over to reach the handbrake, also you can’t refit the plastic cover to the bottom of the handbrake lever. In the end, I bought another seat base and cut off the handbrake mount and re-welded it 35mm lower so the seat can swivel ok, the plastic cover can be refitted ( with the same amount trimmed off) and the handbrake is easy to reach.

There is another option. Oxford T5 at Witney are VW specialists who convert vans but also fit seat swivels and their own shortened handbrake brackets. Fitting a pair of Sportcraft swivels and altering the handbrake and covers took them about an hour. Good place for finding replacement seats, too.

We've had this work done on two campers. Very satisfied customers - even though it's a 500 mile round trip for us!

I've added swivels and moved the handbrake today. I used CMC Swivels that only add 2.5 cm to the height and cut of/drilled out the old handbrake mount. Then mounted it about 15mm lower and bolted it back to the seat base before repriming and painting. Then cut 15mm of the cover and the job looks great

You have been busy young man..

To use my kiravans drivers swivel I need to put the van in gear and release the handbrake. Been thinking of changing to the sportcraft lowering kit. Leaning down to reach the handbrake is something I could probably live with I think
