Hi. Have you fitted led lights if so are they genuine or the after market ones that are out there at the minute. I’m thinking of fitting them and just looking for reviews. Thanks

Hi Dave F,

I’ve changed them for OEM Twin H7 lamps. Mainly for the performance, but I do prefer the way they look. I’d love LEDs but the installation with self levelling and washers is going to be prohibitive.

There a 2 company’s selling aftermarket ones for 500 and they are plug and play but it doesn’t say anything about self levelling. I will have to message them and find out. Thanks

There are no aftermarket LED headlights at the moment, the ones you're talking about are H7 headlights too, but with LED daytime running lights for a bit more cosmetic pzazz. Loads of threads about them on here, search Transporter HQ and Travellin Lite headlights

The aftermarket lights will get round the self levelling by being halogen dipped and main beams, with LED DRLs. I’ve just gone OEM to keep it simple, but improve the output.

Will they be a lot better than my van I have H4 lights I think but I have upgraded the bulbs to Philips bright white and led bulbs.

I prefer them. On low beam, the outer H7s are lit (55w x 2) and on high beam, the inner and outer H7s are lit, so you have 4 bulbs (55w x 4) in four separate reflectors lit. The DRLs are strips below the low beam headlight reflector.

On the H4’s, the DRLs are the large reflectors nearest the grille, and the headlights are on the outer edges of the light and give you 55w x 2 on low beam, and 60w x 2 on high beam.

The only caveat is that you will need someone with VCDS and the relevant knowledge to code H7 lights to your van, otherwise when you use high beam, the low beam will switch off.

From your profile photo, you appear to have H4’s

I think they are. VCDS is the problem as I can’t find anyone that will do it as I wanted the fade on the head unit switch on and also the folding wing mirrors to work on the remote. I asked the dealer but they weren’t interested. The lights sound better as more lights on can only mean more light.

I don’t have access to VCDS unfortunately, but there there may be a member nearby that is able and willing to help, or if you attend any shows etc. One of the kind members on here did mine for me. Yours are H4’s, as the dimpled reflector is the DRL.
