Glow plug warning 1st drive of day

Glow plug warning comes on 1st drive of day after about 90 seconds after starting to drive and flashes until you stop and start again, it does not come on again when restarted. This is a repeatable fault every 1st start of the day.
No problems starting, no noise when driving. Has anybody else seen this issue, any ideas on the cause?

I don't have direct access to either but had garage check but they could find no fault, suggestion was it could be related to the battery and smart alternator so try running with auto stop/start switched off for a bit see if it made a difference

Sounds like glow plug fault to me. Mine was doing exactly the same so had them all changed ........3 are really cheap like £25 and the one with the sensor is about £140

Don't overlook the fact that the glow plug relay can give the same errors. Had mine fail twice in less than 500 miles on my T-Cross. Bought the glow plugs ready for nothing, mine are fine. Far cheaper than replacing all the plugs and getting no solution. First time it went the dealer replaced it, second time I just chucked a new one in myself.

There is no glow plug warning light on dash. Flashing glow plug light means only that engine control unit has detected a fault in engine.

had garage check but they could find no fault,
Each occurrence is definitely logged in engine control unit's memory. Garage not seeing the fault sounds like they didn't have proper tool to read VW specific faults - possibly just the OBD-emission codes.

As @mmi said. Needs scanning. I had exactly the same symptoms each cold start when my oil pressure changeover valve had failed, along with the same warning light.
When my fault occurred, the van would also not allow itself to rev over 3000rpm

I have the same problem with my T6 sportline - after 90 seconds glow plug light flashing . Drives perfect - and if you stop the van and restart it - the flashing light
will not come on for rest of the day. I have plugged an OBD2 scanner in while driving...NO FAULT CODES - however if you goto erase faults it clears the flashing coil light while driving along? I have had the van for a yr now....and had this problem before but with codes. first visit to garage oil pressure sensor solved it. 2nd visit glow plug no2 fault
so changed all 4...van would start after this so all 4 injectors were replaced....so has now become expensive...All the lights work and appears everything else....is it the scanner do I need to take it to a garage with a more sophisticated scanner?
